Although they are less expensive and more rare than precious stones, semi-precious gems are nonetheless valued for their beauty. However, when contrasted to synthetic or non-precious materials, they are still often fairly uncommon and quite attractive.

Modern semi-precious gemstones include beryl, chalcedony, agates, onyx, tourmaline, spinel, topaz, turquoise, zircon, amethyst, Alexandrite, cat’s eyes, bloodstones, moonstones, and sunstones.
