Natural Green Sapphire

Description

Natural Green Sapphire

Like rubies and blue sapphires, Natural Green Sapphire are uncommon and expensive gemstones that belong to the corundum family. From light minty to deep forest green, green sapphires are renowned for their vivid green hue. Green sapphires belong to the Corundum family, just like all other sapphires. Like the majority of gemstones, corundum can be found in both primary deposits (such as volcanic or metamorphic rock formations) and secondary deposits (typically found in alluvial sources, such as riverbeds).

Natural Green Sapphire (Gemstone Formation )

When source rocks within the earth’s crust were exposed to extreme heat and pressure millions of years ago, the atoms recombined to form new metamorphic (changed) rocks, including sapphires (corundum). The iron (FE) in the corundum is what gives it its green color. The green sapphire mineral is the second densest gemstone that humans are aware of because of the iron that gives it a higher density than the majority of other sapphires. Another name for the green sapphire gemstone is the stone of peace.
